Assistant Commissioner (Operations) Wong Chi-hung has appointed Superintendent (SP) Ng Ho-fung to succeed SP Martin Cadman as Officer Commanding (OC) of the Force Escort Group (FEG). SP Cadman has stepped down after holding the post for two and a half years.

At a recent ceremony at Police Headquarters, Mr Wong presented letters of appointment and appreciation to SP Ng and SP Cadman respectively.

SP Ng, who is responsible for enforcement and control in Traffic New Territories South, is no stranger to the FEG, having served as its 2i/c several years ago. With SP Ng's knowledge of escort procedures and traffic experience, Mr Wong is confident that he is an ideal candidate to take over as OC FEG and to further develop its professionalism.

Thanking SP Cadman for his hard work as OC FEG, Mr Wong noted that he had introduced many changes during his tenure, including reorganisation of the FEG, creation of a Headquarters team to cope with an increasing workload and organisation of standardised bi-annual selection and training programmes.

SP Cadman has assured FEG members of his continued support in the capacity of Force Motor Transport Officer. He has also praised them for their devotion to performing a secondary duty, and encouraged them to keep up their good work under the new OC.

The FEG, one of the Force's secondary duty cadres, comprises 59 officers from the five regional traffic formations and provides traffic facilitation to all special vehicle movements, including VIP motorcades, high risk prisoner escorts and secure movement of high value cargo. In 2010, FEG members contributed over 1 636 man days totalling 117 mobilisations on such activities.
