A meeting between 12 members of the IPCC and representatives of the four staff associations took place at Police Headquarters recently to enhance understanding and exchange views on the present mechanism of handling complaints. Accompanying the IPCC members at the meeting was IPCC Secretary General Ricky Chu.

At the meeting, staff association representatives voiced their concern about the difficulties and stress faced by frontline officers, as well as abuse of the complaint mechanism.

In return, the IPCC members showed their understanding of police work and commended the Force for maintaining law and order. They also explained how IPCC functioned and worked with Complaints Against Police Office in maintaining the integrity of the complaint system.

Both sides enhanced mutual understanding and the views exchanged would be valuable for improving the complaint-handling mechanism.
