In support of the Commissioner's Operational Priority and the Yau Tsim District (YTDIST) Action Plan against "Trafficking and Abuse of Dangerous Drugs", an anti-drugs publicity campaign was launched at Tsim Sha Tsui Kaifong Welfare Association on July 7. The slogan for the campaign was "Stand Firm! Knock Drugs Out! Not Now! Not Ever!"

As part of its "Youth Concern Strategy against Drug Abuse", especially before the long school holidays, YTDIST organised the anti-drug campaign to remind students of the grave consequences of drug abuse and the pledge they have made to stay away from drugs.

During the event, the students chanted the campaign slogan, led by YTDIST Commander Wong Kwok-wai. Also present to support the event were a member of the Action Committee Against Narcotics, Ms Ann So Lai-chun; Acting District Officer of Yau Tsim Mong District, Mr Chiu Man-hin; Chairman of Yau Tsim Mong District Fight Crime Committee, Mr Wu Man-keung; Yau Tsim District Junior Police Call Honorary President Council Chairlady, Ms Kay Yu; First Vice-chairman, Mr Chiu Yu-hei; Second Vice-chairman, Mr Cheng Po-wo, and Honorary President, Mr Chan Kwok-hoi.

The non-government organisations participating in the campaign also set up information and game booths at the venue, attracting around 500 students from both local and Non-ethnic Chinese primary and secondary schools, including many JPC members of Yau Tsim District.
