Wan Chai District (WCHDIST) Commander Lam Man-sai officiated at "The Integrative Voices Under One Roof Celebrating the Anniversary of the HKSAR" event, which was held by the International Social Service Hong Kong Branch and the Wan Chai District Arts, Cultural, Recreational & Sports Association in the City Hall on the evening of June 28. Other guests of honour included Secretary for Home Affairs, Mr Tsang Tak-sing, and the Consul-Generals of Thailand, Nepal, Pakistan, the Philippines and Indonesia in Hong Kong.

Over 800 performers from different ethnic groups and nations performed folk dances to celebrate the anniversary of the establishment of the HKSAR.

WCHDIST has spared no effort in helping Non-ethnic Chinese (NEC) integrate into the community. Together with the International Social Service Hong Kong Branch, WCHDIST is working on a two-year project known as "Community Harmony for Ethnic Minority in Wan Chai" to provide various activities to NEC parents and children, including induction courses on local cultures. WCHDIST officers will also teach the participants basic legal knowledge, the correct way to report crimes and crime prevention measures.

Visits to Happy Valley Division for strengthening the relationship between police and NEC residents are also part of the project.
