Stores Management Division (SMD) has held a two-session seminar on Procurement Procedures to provide frontline officers with procurement guidelines and information. The seminar served as a platform for sharing views on procurement issues such as application of regulations for different procurement values, procurement of stores and services, and tips on drafting tender documents.

The seminar attracted 246 participants, including police officers and executive officers from administrative support teams as well as officers responsible for stores and procurement duties. Information on the seminar is available under the link: Police Intranet → Index → "S" → STORESMAN → Documents.

Meanwhile, Police Stores rolled out a Barcode System for uniform items last month. A barcode label is affixed on the packing of uniform so as to facilitate electronic processing of receipt and issue. This not only enables prompt updating of stock movement and size information, but also simultaneously updates records under a police officer's "Personal Kit List". Application of the Barcode System will further assist Police Stores in improving management of stock and formation administrative support teams in performing checking of "Personal Kit List" for their officers, with a view to managing their uniform orders. Police Stores will make more effort in stores management to improve service quality.

Stores and procurement are not action tasks, but they perform a supportive role within the Force. Stores Management Division will keep on communicating with officers and trying its best to improve services. Meanwhile, the division is working with Information Technology Branch and the Management Accounting Section of Finance Division to improve the stores management system, "STORESMAN", and the inventory coding system.

To ensure smooth running of these projects, Stores Management Division welcomes officers to express their views.
