Tai Po District (TPDIST), with the support of New Territories North Regional Headquarters, has organised a series of promotion seminar to assist Junior Police Officers (JPOs) in the district and units at New Territories North Regional Headquarters in preparing for attending promotion board interviews.

Starting early this month, the seminars are being held on a weekly basis until next month, with mock promotion board interviews in the last week. So far, the seminars have attracted between 70 and 115 officers eager to benefit from the presentations.

Speaking at the opening of the first seminar, TPDIST Commander Paul Stripp thanked officers for attending the seminar and encouraged them to make the most of the opportunity to learn from the experienced officers who had volunteered their own time to help with their preparation for attending promotion board interviews. He reiterated that the seminar was just one of the steps needed to prepare for promotion board interviews and that officers should appreciate the importance of getting adequately prepared.

Speakers at the seminar were Chief Inspector (CIP) Wilfred Wong from Kowloon Internal Investigations Office, speaking on Integrity Management; CIP Remy Ho, TPDIST Operations Officer and a former member of the Sergeant Promotion Board, on promotion interview skills; CIP (Staff Relations) Chow Kwok-kee, on Officers with Unmanageable Debts and staff relation matters; CIP Chan Chiu-chin from Regional Crime Unit New Territories North, on domestic violence and Child Abuse Investigation Unit; CIP (Operations) Sunny San from Central District, on how to manage public order events; Inspector (IP) Tristan Chiew from Special Duty Squad 2 TPDIST, on vice related matters; WIP Jessica Yau from Operations Support Sub-unit, on report room procedures; and Station Sergeant Ronnie Hung from Traffic TPDIST, on traffic related matters.

The participants have found the seminar practical and useful for their preparation for promotion board interviews.
