A busy National Day for officers

Frontline officers had a busy time on the National Day on October 1 when they carried out various duties at various locations.

Hong Kong started getting into festive mood when officers joined members of other disciplined services at a flag-raising ceremony and parade at the Bauhinia Square in Wan Chai early in the morning. This was followed by a reception at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre to celebrate the 62nd Anniversary of the Founding of the People's Republic of China, where the Chief Executive, Mr Donald Tsang, toasted the Motherland with hundreds of VIPs and guests.

In the evening, officers closed roads, diverted traffic and manned strategic locations as an estimated 260 000 people crammed vantage points on both sides of the harbour to watch the National Day fireworks extravaganza.
