TSTDIV Community Liaison Group takes part in 'Teej' festival

"Teej" is a traditional day for Indian women. During this festival, they wear gorgeous red clothes and accessories, put a mark on their foreheads to symbolise auspices, sing and dance for happy marriage and well being of family.

On August 27, the Hong Kong Integrated Nepalese Society (HINS), a Nepalese service organisation, celebrate "Teej" at Kowloon Park, Tsim Sha Tsui, with the sponsorship by the Equal Opportunities Commission of Hong Kong. Among the guests of honour were Chairperson of the Commission, Mr Lam Woon-kwong; Consul-General of Nepal in Hong Kong, Mr Binod Kumar Upadhaya; members of the Yau Tsim Mong District Council, Mr Yeung Tsz-hei, Mr Hung Chiu-wah and Mr Ip Ngo-tung; and Yau Tsim District Police Community Relations Officer, Chief Inspector Mohammad Khan.

At the invitation by the host, the Community Liaison Group of Tsim Sha Tsui Division (TSTDIV) set up a game stall to disseminate messages on community harmony and fighting crime to Non-ethnic Chinese community, alongside other voluntary organisations like Hong Kong Christian Service, International Social Service (Hong Kong Branch), Society of Rehabilitation and Crime Prevention Hong Kong and Hong Kong Sheng Kung Hui Lady MacLehose Centre.

At the end of the activity, the Chief Executive of HINS, Neeta, said: "With the full support by the community service organisations, the activity is a big success. We are grateful to the Community Liaison Group from Tsim Sha Tsui Police Station for setting up and manning a game stall to publicise messages on fighting crimes and drugs."

The game stall added to the joyful atmosphere at the venue and the presence of members of the Community Liaison Group helped project the police image in good light.
