The annual Police Dragon Boat Charity Races raised a record close to $400 000 on October 15 in aid of the Little Life Warrior Society to help local children suffering from cancer diseases. The Police Dragon Boat Club (PDBC) is grateful to those who had contributed to the event in terms of donations, participation, organisation and volunteer services. The club is looking forward to their continued support. This year, the event was held with a bigger scale. In the first ever Tripartite Dragon Boat Race, Commissioner Tsang Wai-hung led the Hong Kong Police Team to compete with the Singapore Police Team led by Commissioner Ng Joo-Hee and the Macao Police Dragon Boat Team. After a tough competition, the Macao team won the title, marking commencement of the two-day Tripartite Sports Exchange. For the first time the PDBC teamed up with the Police Public Relations Branch to hold dragon boat races for a total of 12 Junior Police Call (JPC) teams from various Districts. On top of promoting the dragon boat sport, it was a good opportunity for JPC Leaders to train up their leadership skills. After rounds of competition, the team from Marine Harbour District captured the championship. The Administrative Services Association (ASA) has all along been very supportive to the races for the past few years. This year, the Secretary for the Civil Services, Ms Denise Yue, attended the event as guest of honour, together with a party of directorate grade government officials, and cheered on the ASA teams taking part in different races. Ms Yue was very impressed with the competitors' team spirit and the PDBC's organisational ability.
