A delegation of 28 officers from different formations, led by Senior Superintendent (SSP) Yip Kin-chau and Chief Inspector Ip Chi-kuen, attended a 12-day Mainland Study Programme at the Shanghai Police College between November 14 and 25. The study programme aimed at allowing the officers to widen scope of learning, know more about the work of Mainland Public Security Bureau (PSB) and strengthen the networking between the Force and PSB.

Delegation members attended lectures on the legal system and public security work on the Mainland and visited various PSB formations where they were given on-site briefings on the work of the units they visited. Members also had discussions and exchanges with their Mainland counterparts, enhancing mutual understanding of policing work and promoting friendship.

With the arrangement made by the Ministry of Public Security, delegation members paid a three-day study visit to the PSB of Nanjing, the ancient capital of six dynasties, in Jiangsu Province. On the lighter side of the programme, they were taken on a tour of various historic sites and monuments as well as the modern developments of both Shanghai and Nanjing.

After the study programme, SSP Yip said delegation members had got a better understanding of the legal system and policing work on the Mainland, as well as the history, cultures, ways of life, and urban developments of Shanghai and Nanjing. In these respects, he is convinced that the members have greatly benefited from the programme.
