Retiring RC praises 'Yankee' COY |

Retiring New Territories South Regional Commander Tse Shu-chun has praised officers of the "Yankee" Company of the Police Tactical Unit (PTU) for displaying commitments to society and rendering assistant to the under-privileged whilst receiving their strenuous training. "On December 14, you pitched in for an annual fund-raising event organised by the SCM Post and RTHK. Your success in raising funds and organising games and luncheon for the event underscored the Force's motto, 'We Serve with Pride and Care'," Mr Tse told the officers when he took the salute as Reviewing Officer at their passing-out parade on December 30. Mr Tse went on to say that in his 33 years of service in the Force, he joined the PTU 16 years ago in 1995. "Today, I stand on the parade ground in another capacity and see PTU training improve a lot, keep abreast of times and professionally cater for the needs of officers' jobs. I hope you would apply what you have learned in your services to society." Mr Tse reminded the officers that their roads ahead would be full of challenges. He explained: "This is because public expectations of the Force keep on rising and the things the Force has to deal with are becoming more and more complex. Therefore, you have to remain vigilant and constantly equip yourself so that you would be more capable of handling any emergencies." "In recent years, more and more people expressed their views and opinions in public gatherings and processions. In policing these activities, PTU officers often discharged duties in trying circumstances. This is a very demanding task, but if you always bear justice, fairness and impartiality in mind and apply your expertise, I am convinced that you would accomplish your tasks and earn the support of the mass," Mr Tse concluded.
