At a lunch with Honorary Advisors of Police College last month, Commissioner Tsang Wai-hung presented Certificate of Appointment to a newly appointed Advisor, Mr David Hodson, and seven re-appointed Advisors.

Mr Tsang said in a welcoming speech: "I would like to express our appreciation to our Advisors who have shared their expertise in the fields of medicine, knowledge management, leadership, management, learning technologies, use of force, physical training, court procedures, and quality assurance. Their input has allowed the college to develop and deliver excellent training programmes that benefit the Force, individual police officers and the community we serve.

"With policing becoming more complicated and public expectations continuing to rise, the college is striving to enhance the Force's operational capability with evidence-based research and applied learning. We hope our Honorary College Advisors would be a source of support and advice for this important endeavour."

The training and development initiatives to which the Honorary Advisors have made major contributions include Symposium on Police Studies of the Strait cum Hong Kong and Macao; adjudication of submissions to Force Research Award Scheme; Police Oriented Tactical Emergency Medical Courses; and various seminars and talks for police recruits and management officers as well as for the Administrative Officers of the Government and Mainland Public Security Officers.

Police College Director Kevin Woods hoped that the Force would like to, through the luncheon, express gratitude for the Advisors' support and contributions. The Advisors and the senior management teams of the Force and the college exchanged views and worked closely together for the goal of developing the college into a "Centre of Excellence in Police Training and Development", Mr Woods said.

The luncheon is a great opportunity for College Advisors and Force Management to exchange ideas of development of police training
