Police College Deputy Director Philip Sham and Police College Chief Inspector (CIP) (Management Learning) Adrian Ma attended the 18th INTERPOL Training Symposium and the 3rd INTERPOL Group of Experts on Police Training (IGEPT) meeting in Antalya, Turkey, from November 26 to December 2 last year. Organised by INTERPOL General Secretariat and supported by the Turkish National Police, the symposium was attended by over 100 training experts from various law enforcement agencies and international bodies over the world. With "Enhancing International Co-operation in Police Training" as the overall theme, the symposium provided a platform to share international good practices on science, technology, research and innovation in police training. Being involved in organising the 15th symposium hosted by the Force in Hong Kong in 2005, Mr Sham was glad to see the developments in police training that had taken place over the years, particularly those in technological advancement and international collaboration. At the IGEPT meeting, which was held immediately after conclusion of the symposium, the participants shared knowledge and practical experiences in relation to police training. Attending the meeting as observers, Mr Sham and CIP Ma both found themselves benefiting a lot from sharing of knowledge and experience in police training, especially in the area of police research through an introduction by the Working Group on Police Research. At the meeting, Mr Sham was invited to join the IGEPT, in recognition of his expertise in police training and the Force's continuous support for international training activities through the work and contribution of Police College.
