Over 300 guests attended the Hong Kong Police Inspectors' Association (HKPIA) 2011 Ball in a Tsim Sha Tsui hotel on November 25 last year. Commissioner Tsang Wai-hung and HKPIA Patron, Mrs Rita Fan, attended the ball as officiating guests, greeted by HKPIA Chairman Benjamin Tsang.

In his opening address, Chairman Tsang pointed out that in the past few months the Force was critised in incidents that widely drew public attention, but this served as an opportunity for officers at all levels to support the Force with solidarity.

Addressing the gathering, CP said HKPIA had been adopting a pragmatic approach in co-operating with Force management and fostering communication between management and staff. He expressed his gratitude to all staff, particularly inspectorate officers, for the efforts and professionalism they showed in serving the community and maintaining Hong Kong as one of the safest cities in the world.

In her speech, Mrs Fan praised officers for managing public order events with professionalism and integrity, earning trust from the public, who take pride of having a professional force in their midst. Thanks to having a fine police force, Hong Kong remains one of the safest cities in the world, she added.

Finally, Mrs Fan urged officers to continue exercising professionalism, wisdom, resolve and patience in maintaining law and order.
