MKDIST honours units and officers |
||
To appreciate the hard work of its officers and align with the regional communication strategy of supporting frontline units, Mong Kok District's (MKDIST) Management Team has introduced the Excellence Policing Award 2011. The award scheme comprises nine Best Performance awards for units and individual officers, namely Uniform Branch Unit, Investigation Unit, Uniform Branch Officer, Criminal Investigator, District Traffic Team Officer, Report Room Services Staff, Special Duty Squad Officer, Supporting Frontline Services Staff, and Community Policing Staff. Since implementation of the award scheme in January last year, individual officers have gone through assessments of their performances in order to get recommendations from supervisors or appreciation from the public, gain recognition from colleagues, and demonstrate commitment to service improvement. For unit award contestants, a team must display a precise mechanism allowing officers in the unit to understand the operational priorities, crime investigation, and administrative system so as to facilitate acquisition of more up-to-date information. After a stringent examination of achievement and contribution, a total of four units and nine officers were presented with the Best Performance Award. Presentation of awards was held during Kowloon West Regional Commander Fan Sik-ming's tea reception for community leaders, held in MKDIST Officers' Mess on December 6 last year. Among the guests were District Councillors, District Fight Crime Committee Members, JPC Honorary Presidents, school principals and representatives from non-government organisations and local organisations. Family members of the award winners were also present to share the joy with the awardees. Mr Fan, Yau Tsim Mong District Fight Crime Committee Chairman, Mr Wu Man-keung, and Mong Kok District Commander Peter Cornthwaite officiated at the award presentation ceremony. The 13 awardees were presented with certificates signed by the officiating guests. In his speech, Mr Fan reiterated the importance of engaging the community. He encouraged officers to maintain close communication and liaison with the various councils and organisations in Kowloon West Region. He hoped the management would benefit from their views and suggestions of improvement of services. Following the ceremony, the award winners shared with the guests their stories of how to enhance their performances. The list of the award winners is published in the Chinese section.
