The Chairman of the Independent Police Complaints Council (IPCC), Mr Jat Sew-tong, and eight IPCC members, accompanied by IPCC Secretary General Ricky Chu, visited Complaints Against Police Office (CAPO) on March 8.

Director of Management Services Tang How-kong, Assistant Commissioner (Service Quality) Wong Fook-chuen and Complaints & Internal Investigations Branch (C&IIB) Chief Superintendent Duncan McCosh were on hand to meet the IPCC members.

The visit started with a tour of the CAPO Reporting Centre for IPCC members to see how complaint reports are handled. They then visited the Informal Resolution Suite, "Fragrant Olive", where briefings on an overview of CAPO and complaints prevention were given to update the visitors on the latest development and way forward of CAPO.

The visit concluded with an open forum session where IPCC members had an exchange of views with CAPO officers and got a better understanding of the difficulties and challenges the officers encountered at work. "IPCC and CAPO are working closely for the common goal of improving the Force's service quality through handling of complaints," said Mr Jat at the forum.

C&IIB will continue to organise similar visits to different formations for IPCC members to have better communication with frontline officers as well as a better idea of their job.
