Besides preventing the elderly from falling prey to culprits by stepping up publicity, Wong Tai Sin District (WTSDIST) also encourages the senior citizens to actively take part in community activities.

On March 2 at the invitation of WTSDIST, Elderly Fight Crime Ambassadors joined Assistant District Commander (Operations) Chan Kwok-kee, Chairman of Wong Tai Sin District Council, Mr Li Tak-hong, Wong Tai Sin District Councillor, Mr Mok Ying-fan, Ms Hui Wai-ling of Tung Tau Caritas Elderly Centre, officers of the Housing Department and members of the Owner's Corporation and Management Office of Tung Tau Estate in handing out anti-crime leaflets at Tung Tau Estate to educate senior citizens on how to prevent crimes.  This publicity drive also aimed at introducing the community centres, civic centres and recreation activities in Wong Tai Sin to the elderly with a view to encouraging them to participate in wholesome activities and make more new friends, as well as promoting good neighbourhood and social harmony.

Enlisting the support of the Elderly Fight Crime Ambassadors for the publicity drive not only strengthened their sense of belonging, but also encouraged them to pitch in for community functions. In the views of the District Councillors, the drive succeeded in further promoting police-community relationship and making the elderly more aware of crime prevention.
