Elderly's safety remains a priority for T KE

Road safety and passenger safety, especially those involving the elderly, remain a priority for Traffic Kowloon East (T KE). Last year, there were in Kowloon East Region 134 traffic accidents involving passengers losing balance on public buses, with one fatality. Fifty-eight of the passengers were 60 years old or above, accounting for 43 per cent of the accidents.

To make elderly passengers more aware of road safety, the Road Safety Team of T KE has launched a series of promotional activities in conjunction with Kowloon Motor Bus Company recently. T KE officers, together with Kowloon Motor Bus Safety Ambassadors, distributed promotional leaflets to elderly passengers in Kwun Tong and Tsz Wan Shan and visited the bus stops frequently used by the elderly to remind them to hold the handrail whilst riding on buses.

T KE will continue to work closely with various bus companies and visit more districts to disseminate safety messages to the elderly.
