In a bid to secure community support for fighting crime and addressing other local policing issues, Yau Tsim District (YTDIST) has run two forums on its 2012 Formation Action Plan to local Fight Crime Committee members, District Councillors, Area Committee members and school principals. Delivered at Tsim Sha Tsui Police Station on March 6 and 12, the forums covered YTDIST's policing strategies and priorities over the next 12 months. With technology crime classified as a new operational priority this year, Chief Inspector Frank Law Yuet-wing from Commercial Crime Bureau's Technology Crime Division was invited to give presentations at the forums on the current technology crime situation in Hong Kong, prevalent types of technology crime, prevention measures, and the Force's capability to tackle such crime. The audience praised YTDIST for organising the forums shortly after promulgating its annual action plan. After the forums, the Chairwoman of the Yau Tsim Mong District School Liaison Committee, Ms Cheung Yee-may, said she gained a better idea of not only YTDIST's policing priorities, but also technology crime, adding that she would advise her students to remain vigilant to Internet crime. ![]() |
