Speaking at the award presentation ceremony, Mr Tang pointed out that
in the face of challenges brought about by a rapidly-changing society,
the Force required not only the experience and wisdom of leadership,
but also the creativity and active participation of all officers in the
process of devising strategies. This would enable the Force to respond
to changes and move with the times.
"Last year, we, through collective wisdom, made steady progress in
utilising resources and improving operational efficiency, service
quality and working environment. I hope all Force members would remain
more innovative and work together for the good of the Force," Mr Tang
noted.
Slogan & Poster Competition
Under the Police Staff Motivation Scheme, Personnel Services and Staff
Relations Branch organised the Prudent Family and Personal Financial
Management Poster Design Competition and Creative Slogan Competition in
a bid to make Force members more aware of the concept and culture of
"Smart Family and Personal Financial Management". The contest drew a
total of 423 slogans and 77 posters, all of which underscore the
creativity and artistic talents of the participants, as well as the
importance of family and personal financial prudence. Each competition
offered a gold, silver and bronze award as well as five consolation
awards, which were won by a total of 59 officers either as individual
competitors or team members.
Screen Saver Competition
Information Systems Wing also organised the Force Computer Screen Saver
Design Competition on Green Management at Workplace to enhance
awareness of green management among Force members. A total of 16 teams
comprising 90 disciplined and civilian officers took part in the
competition with entries carrying the messages of green management,
optimal use of resources and good green practices at the workplace. The
entries also had a high standard and demonstrated the creativity and
artistic talents of the participants. Eight teams comprising a total of
50 members were selected as champion, 1st runner-up, 2nd runner-up and
winners of five merit prizes. The winning screen savers will be
uploaded to Force computer terminals.
Video Clip Competition
At the same time, Complaints and Internal Investigations Branch's
Behavioural Guidelines Video Clip Competition drew an encouraging
response from 29 teams competing for various awards. A judging panel
comprising academia from the Hong Kong University and the Chinese
University, the Chief Mass Media Officer of ICAC, the Senior Police
Clinical Psychologist and a representative of the Junior Police
Officers' Association, picked 11 teams comprising 100 members as
winners of gold, silver, bronze and creativity awards as well as seven
merit awards.
After the presentation ceremony, Mr Tang toured the displays put up by
different Major Formations and shared with the winning teams the joy of
their victories.
Participant's Views
PC Wong Ka-hang, attached to Emergency Unit New Territories South,
teamed up with SGT Fung Kwun-ho and PC Yu Yuen-fun for the first time
and took the title of the Force Computer Screen Saver Design
Competition on Green Management at Workplace with seven images about
the topic. PC Wong said he, by using innovative ideas and interesting
presentations, sought to draw attention to the Force's developments and
matters of concern, and to strengthen the sense of belonging among
Force members. Both he and his teammates see their award as a
motivation for making further joint efforts for other contests.
