"Detective Tour" and Digital Presentation System (DPS) have won the Bronze Awards of "Best Public Service Application (Transformation) Award" and "Best Public Service Application (Small Project) Award" respectively of the Hong Kong Information and Communications Technology (HKICT) Awards for 2012. Police College Director Cheng Se-lim and Acting Deputy Director Cheung Kam-chuen received the two prestigious awards at a presentation ceremony held at Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Centre on April 3. The Detective Training Division and the Learning Technologies Division of Police College jointly developed "Detective Tour" in-house, while the latter also developed DPS. Besides supporting Force training, DPS is also a very user-friendly and effective programme for assisting frontline units in conducting operational planning and briefings. At present, over 300 officers from 25 Police units have received the training and adopted the programme in various operational applications. The HKICT Awards were established in 2006 with the collaborative effort amongst the industry, the academia and the Government to set up a large-scale and internationally recognised brand of ICT awards in Hong Kong. It also encourages local practitioners to develop innovative and creative ICT solutions that would uplift the image of the ICT sector in Hong Kong, both locally and internationally. The "Best Public Service Application Award" aims at encouraging the development and implementation of ICT solutions in government departments and non-government organisations in order to better meet demands for public service delivery. ![]() |
