Dear Sir, We felt very much obliged to express our deepest gratitude to the Police Department of the Hong Kong International Airport. We were amazed at the speed and effectiveness of CID in resolving a case on behalf of distressed travellers, and the courtesy and professionalism extended to them. Upon finishing my meeting in New York, my friend and I flew into Hong Kong on April 13. I had one roll of five precious Chinese paintings with me, valued over one million RMB. I was about o board a train to downtown when I found, to my horror, the roll of paintings was gone. We went back to the luggage carousel, and the entire route we had just walked. There was no trace of the roll. By then, it was already close to 10 pm. We decided to report to police. We were ushered to a small office of the Police Department at the airport. The officer on duty started taking notes of our story. At the same time, two officers were sent to review the CCTV video tapes. Even though they found nothing helpful to this case. We were very grateful to their efforts. After the case was escalated to the CID, the sergeant by the name of Mr Li (No. 47262), a Mr Ng (No. 34394) and a lady officer (No. 56758) stepped in and made my problem their own. Mr Li and the lady searched the arrival floor several times. Li was the most commendable police officer in my life. He was polite, he worked fast, and was right to the point, and he finally recovered our lost item. In less than 24 hours, we had gone through a rollercoaster experience from our wonderful meeting in New York to the horror of losing part of my treasured collection, and to the happy ending of a grand finale. In short, not everyone was so fortunate to meet such nice and highly effective police officers like Sergeant Li. I highly commend him for his dedication to his work, his readiness to help and persistence in bringing the case to closure. He is my HERO! We need more police officers like Sergeant Li in Hong Kong and elsewhere. This letter will be sent to Donald Tsang, the Chief Executive's office, and be distributed to the local media. Thank you once again for having such a wonderful officer in your team. I am very proud of Hong Kong Police Force. Colin
