KE Integrity Ambassadors Programme gathers momentum |
||
Kowloon East (KE) Region has, since 2009, organised many activities under its "Integrity Ambassador Programme", including the first "Integrity Ambassador Workshop" with the Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC) last year. The second workshop was conducted on May 18, with the appointment of a new batch of 88 Integrity Ambassadors, which served as the prelude to a series of activities to promote integrity in the coming year. KE Training and Staff Relations Officer Liauw Ka-kei pointed out that one of the important aspects of preparation for the workshop was careful selection of training materials. KE Regional Headquarters gathered real-life cases from all its formations early this year and re-wrote them into eight short episodes to reflect the daily workplace situations and looked into the integrity problems officers might come across. After discussion with ICAC, over 40 pages of training materials were prepared, detailing the lessons learned and the related laws for each story. The Deputy Regional Officer, Mr Chiu Yu-tat, and the Senior Community Relations Officer, Miss Ming Yuen-man, of the Community Relations Department of ICAC conducted the workshop, analysing through case studies the integrity problems that officers may often encounter at work. The audience made good use of this chance to take part in discussion and to consider the legal position and the correct course of actions of each case so as to enhance their knowledge of the police orders and laws concerned. Auxiliary police officers were invited to attend the workshop in the hope that their participation would help incorporate integrity management into the training for auxiliary police officers. The workshop drew a total of 11 Auxiliary officers from Kowloon East, Hong Kong Island, New Territories South and New Territories North Regions to share their working experience of this topic. At the conclusion of the workshop, Acting Regional Commander KE Blake Hancock presented a certificate of appointment to each KE Integrity Ambassador. One of them, Chan Chi-yung, commented: "I've never thought of representing Kowloon East Region to share with my colleagues what I've learned from the workshop. This is a very meaningful job." The related training materials will be uploaded to the KE Region Website. The Integrity Ambassadors now have a better idea of their roles |
