In view of the feedback from Junior Police Officers (JPO) obtained during the inaugural briefing of the Development Programme for Junior Officers with Potential in January, Personnel Wing has organised a series of Knowledge Café in conjunction with the Champion of the Force Knowledge Management Peer Advisers Scheme (PAS) to encourage more JPO to pursue their career development. The first session, titled "Be Prepared for Career Development", was conducted at Police Headquarters on May 25 for 123 officers, including six mentors of the Development Programme. The facilitator, Senior Superintendent (SSP) Cheng Tak-ming, Champion of the KM PAS, and three guest speakers - SSP Chan Man-yin, Chief Inspector Tse Yuk-lung, and Inspector Lui Carman - shared with the audience their experience of preparing for, and improving performance in, the Extended Interview (EI) and the Final Interview Board (FIB). The guest speakers also spoke of the keys to success. During the question-and-answer session, the audience asked questions about the skills for attending EI and FIB and details of the job attachment under the Development Programme. The audience was informed that the Force would recruit 180 Probationary Inspectors for 2012/2013 and they were strongly advised to seize this opportunity, either by way of Direct Application or Potential Officers Scheme, to achieve career advancement in the Force. "The Knowledge Café was very useful because the experience sharing sessions conducted by the facilitator and guest speakers cleared all my doubts about the Extended Interview and the Final Interview Board. It also made me more confident in taking part in the selection process," said Police Constable Cheung Wai-hung from Commercial Crime Bureau. The next Knowledge Café session of the same series will be held on September 14. Enrolment will be invited through Force NoticeBoard and PEN sometime next month. |
