Wong Tai Sin District (WTSDIST) has been running a "Fight Crime Ambassadors Programme" since 2006 by recruiting both the young and old to spread messages on fighting and preventing crime to their families, friends and schoolmates. The programme helps build up an expanding interpersonal publicity network for police-community partnership in preventing crime.

The programme has gained big support from local groups and agencies in the district. Every year, it sees WTSDIST appointing a batch of new Fight Crime Ambassadors, old and young, who have swollen the ranks of the aides to the police in promoting fight crime messages.

This year, the WTSDIST Fight Crime Ambassadors Appointment Ceremony was held on May 26 at the Buddhist Hung Sean Chau Memorial College in San Po Kong, with District Commander Toby Chow officiating before a large number of distinguished guests, who included Vice-chairman of Wong Tai Sin District Council, Dr Wong Kam-chiu; Chairman of Wong Tai Sin District Fight Crime Committee, Mr Yeung Chee-tat; Chairman of Wong Tai Sin Junior Police Call Honorary Presidents Council, Mr Hui Leung-wah and Hong Kong and China Gas Company Limited Network Development Manager, Mr Lee Wai-keung.

More than 1 000 Fight Crime Ambassadors from 16 elderly centres and 10 primary and secondary schools were appointed. The guests found the programme most meaningful and worthy of continuous support.

More and more volunteers are joining the Fight Crime Ambassadors Scheme
