Cheung Sha Wan Division (CSWDIV) has a cluster of public housing estates. With completion of new public housing flats and aging of the population in Cheung Sha Wan, more elderly persons living alone in housing estates have fallen prey to theft. As such, combatting burglary and quick cash crimes in housing estates has become an operational priority for CSWDIV.

CSW Divisional Commander Leung Young Shi-kwan rolled out a district-wide anti-crime campaign on May 15 in a bid to maintain a close partnership with the community through education, publicity, intelligence gathering, stepping up of patrol, and measures to raise crime prevention awareness among the elderly living in housing estates. The campaign started with a crime prevention seminar and distribution of fliers at Un Chau Estate.

A joint effort among CSWDIV, Sham Shui Po Police Community Relations Office and Kowloon West Regional Crime Prevention Office, the event earned the strong support of Sham Shui Po District Councillor, Mr Chan Wai-ming, as well as representatives of the Mutual Aid Committees of Un Chau Estate and security and property management agencies. They saw the seminar as a good platform to interact and communicate with police officers.
