Marine Region wins MacDonald Cup
The MacDonald Cup Inter-Region Basketball Tournament was successfully held on May 25 at Police Sports and Recreation Club amidst loud cheers and hoorays. Marine Region clinched the championship by beating Kowloon West Region 72-55. New Territories North Region won the third place by beating New Territories South Region 47-41.
Police Constable Wong Tak-man of Marine Region was chosen as the most valuable player by the chief coaches of the four finalists. With outstanding performance in the final, he led his team to victory with an individual score of 18.
In the Leslie-Luscombe Cup Inter-District Basketball Tournament held earlier in March, Marine Outer Waters District reigned champion again for the fourth time in a row. The first and the second runners-up were the Operations Wing of New Territories North Region and the Operations Wing of Kowloon West Region respectively.
Right after the MacDonald Cup final, Director of Operations Hung Hak-wai presented trophies to winners, and encouraged all teams to continue with their efforts to scale new heights.
