Having won the Championship in the Fourth Division of the Winter League organised by the Hong Kong Hockey Association (HKHA) last year and having been promoted to the Third Division this year, the Police Hockey Men's Team (A) won the HKHA Plate Trophy on May 27.

The police team took on four formidable rivals from different sports clubs and won all the four matches after rigorous fights. In three matches, the team members had to fight for victory in extra time and in two matches, they only won after penalty shooting.

In the Champion match, the police team had a close fight with the Hong Kong Football Club at King's Park Hockey Ground and won the game by 3:2 in penalty shooting after extra time.

It was in 1991, 21 years ago, that the Police Hockey Club won the same match organised by HKHA. This is the best last salute to the club's late Chairman, Chief Superintendent Gary Field, who set this target at the start of the hockey season. The club missed Gary very much for his passion and unfailing support whilst leading the club in the past few years.

Recently, Superintendent Michael Yip Siu-ming was elected Chairman of the club. "With the success achieved by Gary, the club will develop further and continue to promote healthy lifestyle activity, i.e. hockey playing among Force members," said Michael.

The club is recruiting new members and welcomes officers and their family members to attend the training sessions scheduled to be held at Police Sports and Recreation Club on August 14, 21, and 28 and September 4.
