Marine Region has launched the Marine Police Mentorship Programme (MPMP) for recruiting qualified candidates to join the Force and subsequently Marine Region by providing various kinds of training and activities to the mentees. In May, eight mentees participated in the 7th Safety Afloat Educational Seminar and the Leaflet Distribution for Sea Safety in Marine South Division.

On May 9, a Mentor, Inspector (IP) Tsang Kit-ying of Marine East Division, accompanied the eight mentees to attend the seminar at Space Museum, which was jointly hosted by Marine Department, Leisure and Cultural Services Department and the Force for enhancing public awareness of safety at sea. During the seminar, IP Tsang took the opportunity to introduce the roles and policies of Marine Region in sea safety to the mentees.

On May 25, the mentees, accompanied by another Mentor, Senior Inspector Yu Wing-ming of Marine North Division, boarded a Police Launch to pitch in for distribution of leaflets on sea safety to the vessels and craft moored in the Aberdeen Typhoon Shelter.

After the two activities, the mentees gained a better idea of the importance Marine Region attaches to sea safety.
