Ten new "Brammo Enertia Plus LE (Law Enforcement)" electric motorcycles were delivered to frontline formations for use in their daily operations on August 31.

The Brammo electric motorcycles are the second type of electric motorcycle procured by the Force after the Vectrix Maxi Scooters were purchased in 2008 and 2009.

The United States-manufactured Brammo electric motorcycle is propelled by a single lithium battery, which is capable of achieving a top speed of 95 km per hour and a range of 128 km on a single charge.

The zero emission Brammo motorcycles will be deployed alongside the existing small motorcycle fleet of Honda CB250 and CB300 motorcycles commonly used by divisional patrol and District Traffic Team (DTT) for day-to-day patrol and traffic enforcement.

One of the users of the new Brammo motorcycles, Senior Constable Li Pei-tak of DTT Sau Mau Ping said after trying out the new motorcycle that it is very quiet during operation, compared with the traditional small motorcycle.

The zero emission, though, makes it especially suitable for patrol at town centres and industrial areas where air quality will not be further deteriorated.
