The Carelinks Cadre marked its 7th Anniversary with an Annual Forum for over 70 Carelinkers in the Multi-purpose hall at Police Headquarters on July 7. With the 34 Carelinkers recruited this year, the cadre now has a membership of over 90.

Assistant Commissioner (Personnel) Ng Tsui Fung-ying attended the forum to present letters of appointment to the Carelinkers. In her address, she praised the Carelinkers for promoting a caring culture within the Force, welcomed the new members, and encouraged the cadre to keep on inspiring Force members with their positive life attitude.

Building a Strong Team

To improve communication among the three generations of Carelinkers, the Annual Forum featured a team-building session, allowing the Carelinkers to know one another better and build up better rapport. One of the session programmes was making a "Big Wheel" with newspaper and cohesive tape to test the tenacity of the players and inspire them with team spirit for achieving common goals.

Running Six Projects

Since its establishment in 2005, the Carelinks Cadre has been running the following six core services for Force members:

(1)    Sharing session on psychological health for Recruit Police Constables shortly after commencement of their training and before their passing out from Police College;

(2)    Sharing session on stress management for Probationary Inspectors shortly after  commencement of their training and before their passing out from Police College;

(3)    "Carelinks Helpline" service (9810-0202) between 7pm and 9pm on Monday, Wednesday and Friday;

(4)    "Happy - Do It Yourself" workshop on Formation Training Days;

(5)    Uploading "Food for Heart" messages onto Force Noticeboard weekly to share wisdom of life; and

(6)    Publishing book reviews on psychological health in OffBeat.

The Carelinkers have incorporated into their daily life the spirits of self-care, caring for others and seeking assistance when necessary. For their efforts to sow the seeds of care and peer support, rank, seniority and posting make no difference.  The cadre comprises retired officers, civilian staff, transferees to other departments from the Force, as well as Auxiliary Police officers recruited this year. This combination of members will render the cadre's services more comprehensive and help it further develop in future.

Force members having any suggestion or query may contact Cadre Chairperson, Mr Gilbert Wong, at 2798-3301 or Vice-chairperson, Ms Kattie Chan, at 2761-2248, or send an email to carelinks@police.gov.hk.
