Senior Superintendent Pat Laidler of Traffic New Territories South (T NTS) joined guests in celebrating the 10th Anniversary of the First Aid Bicycle Team of the Auxiliary Medical Service (AMS) Volunteer Group on September 16. The retiring AMS Chief Staff Officer, Dr Chan Yiu-wing, and his successor, Mr Hui Wai-kwong, officiated at the celebration at the AMS First Aid Station on the Shatin Cycle Path.

After the opening ceremony, Mr Laidler thanked the AMS volunteers for attending to cyclists who sustained minor injuries in accidents on cycle tracks. He also highlighted the close co-operation between the Police and AMS, adding that the high profile presence of AMS volunteers on cycle tracks assisted the Police in promoting safe cycling when cycling is becoming a more and more popular sport in Hong Kong.

While the ceremony was underway, the NTS Road Safety Team distributed copies of a publicity leaflet on cycle tracks to promote safe cycling to the general public.
