A party of Hospital Authority doctors, nursing officers and physiotherapists from two Occupational Health Centres (OHC), led by Dr King Chan, Consultant of Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH), visited Marine Region and Traffic Hong Kong Island on August 21 to get first-hand information from officers about their duties that may lead to injuries related to Occupational Safety and Health.

During the visit, which was coordinated by the Conditions of Service Branch of Personnel Wing, the medical visitors received briefings from Deputy Regional Commander Marine Richard Morgan, Senior Superintendent (Operations) Marine Fung Wai-kin, Superintendent (Operations) Marine Joseph Li and Chief Inspector (Enforcement & Control) Peter Ip.

The medical staff found their visit very useful in enhancing the services provided by OHCs, allowing them to design the best possible rehabilitation programmes for officers who have sustained injuries on duty. Dr Chan emphasised that OHCs, in addition to rehabilitation treatment, also treat minor injuries, thereby reducing officers' waiting time at Accident and Casualty Departments.

Details of the services offered by the OHC at QEH and Pamela Youde Nethersole Eastern Hospital are available on the Personnel Wing webpage.
