In a bid to improve the volleyball refereeing within the Force, the Hong Kong Police Volleyball Club (HKPVC) and the Volleyball Association of Hong Kong (VBAHK) jointly organised a 12-week Volleyball Referee Course between February and May this year.  Twenty-four trainees have undergone 18 hours of lecture on international volleyball rules and 22 hours of practical training, with 18 successfully passing an assessment and becoming official referees.

On July 26, HKPVC held a graduation ceremony, with HKPVC Chairperson, Superintendent (SP) Kwan Chui-ching and VBAHK representatives in attendance. After receiving their certificates, the 18 successful trainees officially became probationary referees.

Congratulating the graduates, SP Kwan said formal training would render refereeing within the Force more professional and enable the competing teams to enjoy more the fun of matches.

The 18 probationary referees will blow their whistles in the Force's volleyball competitions, including Inter-District Competition, Chairman's Cup, Challenge Cup, Universities and Disciplinary Forces Invitation Competitions. The Inter-District Competition on September 6 was the first test of the graduates' skills.

HKPVC has been promoting volleyball and healthy lifestyle with regular practices in PSRC every Thursday evening. Those interested in joining the practices may email hkpvc.hkp@gmail.com.
