The Used Clothing Collection Campaign 2012, one of the “Community Partnership" initiatives of the Force and a joint venture with the Salvation Army, has collected another record-breaking 123,754 kilograms of clothing and used items from 23 collection points.

Actively supporting the annual collection campaign are various police formations, including Marine Harbour Division and Marine South Division which joined the campaign last year, staff associations, police clubs, Junior Police Officers' Married and Disciplined Services Quarters Residents' associations, Police Volunteer Services Corps and management companies. In appreciation of their support, a Hand-over cum Recognition Ceremony was held at Police Headquarters on February 21, with Assistant Commissioner (Personnel), Mrs Ng Tsui Fung-ying, and Lt-Colonel Samuel Pho, Officer Commanding of The Salvation Army, Hong Kong and Macao Command, officiating.

Acknowledging the contributions of Force members, their families and other staff members to the collection campaign, Mrs Ng hoped they would continue to support the campaign. She pointed out that the campaign, on one hand, aims at promoting environmental protection and, on the other hand, fosters “Community Partnership", serving the goal of extending care to the under-privileged in society for the past 10 years.

As a token of gratitude to the Force and Force members, Lt-Colonel Pho and Lt-Colonel Donni Pho of the Salvation Army presented souvenirs to representatives from the participating units for their contributions to the collection campaign.

Now that the Used Clothing Collection Campaign for 2013 has started, Force members are encouraged to send their used items including clothing, toys, electrical appliances, computers, pianos and books to the collection points located at Police Headquarters, New Territories South Regional Headquarters, Marine Harbour Division, Marine South Division, Police Officers' Club, Police Sports and Recreation Club, Police Married Quarters or Disciplined Services Quarters at Police College, Old Bailey Street, Wong Tai Sin, Yau Mei Court, Ko Cheung Court, Shun Lee, West Kowloon, Lai King, Tsing Yi, Kwai Fuk Court, Kwai Yung Court, Yuen Long, Sheung Shui and Tuen Mun Wu Hong.
