Police College rolls out colloquial Putonghua expressions

While conducting a search on a man or packing up a prisoner’s property, a police officer might use colloquial Cantonese to ask him to pull up his trousers or tell the prisoner "I’m going to pack up your property". Do you know how to make these expressions properly in Putonghua?

To help officers communicate correctly in Putonghua in the above circumstances,  Police College has specially developed and rolled out a very useful Putonghua Self-learning tool, the Module IV - "Colloquial Putonghua expressions".

The module comprises a wide range of sample sentences related to patrol, investigation, traffic and report room duties. All the sentences have been translated, vetted and audio-recorded by a professional Putonghua teacher, who has attained Class I Grade A and the Tester qualifications of the National Putonghua Proficiency Test.

For more effectiveness, the module is equipped with some features, including key word search, individual sentence play and continuous play functions.  Both the text and the sound files are downloadable.
