Traffic Kowloon East (T KE) stepped up education on, and enforcement action against, drink and drug driving during the last two festive seasons. As part of these efforts, T KE officers handed out publicity leaflets on anti-drink/drug driving to customers in restaurants in Lei Yue Mun and Sai Kung Town during the last Christmas and Lunar New Year.

During this publicity drive, the restaurant patrons were advised of the consequences of driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs, and warned that traffic officers would step up patrols and random breath tests. Some of the customers invited to take the breath test showed a great interest in their results.

Among the customers, many were overseas and Mainland tourists, who also took a great interest in the publicity drive and breath test. Whilst being not prepared to drive in Hong Kong, some said they would bring the leaflets and anti-drink/drug messages home. Meanwhile, many restaurant owners gave a helping hand in distribution of the leaflets.
