At the invitation of Tai Po Division (TPDIV), District Councillors and operators of 28 bar in Tai Po attended a Bar Seminar on April 17. The seminar underscored TPDIV's efforts to address the concerns of local community over public safety, law and order and noise nuisances.
In a bid to create a healthy bar business and a peaceful community, TPDIV engaged all the stakeholders concerned to discuss the issues together so that a win-win situation would be achieved. Among the participants were Tai Po District Council and District Fight Crime Committee member, Mr Li Kwok-ying, and District Councillor, Mr Cheung Kwok-wai.
In the seminar, Tai Po District Deputy Commander Ng Wing-kai, Tai Po Divisional Commander, Fung Wai-ming, Assistant Divisional Commander (Administration) Ho Siu-ting and Inspector Lam Po-ming, TPDIV Miscellaneous Services Unit Commander, disseminated crime prevention messages and introduced liquor licensing conditions, law enforcement directions and a hotline for bar operators.
In the seminar, the parties concerned closely examined the issues from different perspectives and had an exchange of views and suggestions. Mr Fung stressed that the joint effort by the police, bar operators and the community was the key to creating a healthy bar business environment and a harmonious community as well as raising public awareness of crime prevention. Police would do its best to achieve those goals with all stakeholders.
The bar operators praised the police for enforcing the law with an open mind and pledged to work closely with officers in achieving the objectives of the seminar.
