As Tin Wan in Aberdeen has a large population of elderly residents, Western District (WDIST) kicked off a publicity drive on May 8 to prevent the elders there from falling prey to crimes. WDIST also sought to forge a close partnership with the local community in fighting and preventing crimes with education, publicity and intelligence gathering.
The publicity drive enjoyed community support when the Vice-chairman of the Southern District Council, Mr Chan Fu-ming, and members of the Southern District Fight Crime Committee and area committees joined WDIST Commander Choy Wise and officers of Aberdeen Division in distributing anti-crime leaflets in Tin Wan to remind residents to beware of telephone and street scams as well as burglary. The party also paid door-to-door visits to elderly residents.
