The Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics, which is a fundraiser for the development of sports for persons with intelligent disability, took place at Sha Tin Sports Ground on May 19.

Commissioner Tsang Wai-hung attended the opening ceremony and cheered on Force runners. The Torch Run commenced with Regional Commander Hong Kong Island Li Kin-fai  leading 1,300 Force runners and their families on  a 3.5 km-route along Shing Mun River.

The Torch Run attracted about 2,700 law enforcement officers from seven disciplinary services. The Force raised nearly $600,000 out of a total donation of about $1.7 million.  The three top fund-raising Formations were Kowloon West Region, Hong Kong Island Region and New Territories South Region.

Seventy-seven volunteers from the Police Volunteer Services Corps lent a helping hand at the annual event.
