With the approach of the summer vacation, Crime Kowloon East (CRM KE) has organised a series of publicity activities in a bid to steer teenagers away from drugs or being lured into drugs peddling.
Bringing anti-drugs publicity to Non-ethnic Chinese (NEC) students for the additional objective of racial integration, KE Police Community Relations Office teamed up with the Islamic Dharwood Pau Memorial School to hold a seminar on June 29, attracting many NEC students, their parents, teachers, and representatives of the Federation of Parent-Teacher Associations in Kowloon East.
At the seminar, CRM KE officers impressed audience on the harm of drugs abuse, while social workers from Rainbow Lutheran Centre gave a talk on their experience in handling young drug abusers. The seminar also helped parents and teachers detect early problems of drugs abuse involving teenagers.
After the seminar, KE took anti-drugs enforcement actions and other follow-up activities, including distribution of anti-crime leaflets with the assistance of members of the "Project Teens" in crime black spots and places frequented by teenagers, such as online game centres.
