Wan Chai (WCHDIST) has been according high priority to deal with Late Night Violence, and concerted efforts by the Police and stakeholders have proven effective in combatting this issue, resulting in a significant drop in crime figure in recent years.

In a bid to sustain this improvement during the summer vacation, WCHDIST hosted another workshop for bar operators on July 16. At the invitation of WCHDIST, members of the Wan Chai District Fight Crime Committee (DFCC) also joined the workshop and shared their views and concerns of the community with the bar operators.

DFCC Chairman, Mr Chan Hing-ming, a DFCC member, Mr Lam Chi-wai, two District Councillors, Ms Lee Kwun-yee and Ms Lee Pik-yee, were presented alongside licensees, managers and staff members from ground floor and upstairs bars in Wan Chai.

WCHDIST District Commander Lee Wing-kong pledged that WCHDIST, by enhancing communication and co-operation with different stakeholders, would continue make Wan Chai a safe and comfortable place to live in and do business.

During the workshop, WCHDIST gave a brief account of the situation of alcohol-related crimes and brought three key messages, namely "co-operation", "crime prevention" and "providing Information", to the audience.

To provide a one-stop service for bar licensees and operators, WCHDIST took the opportunity to promote again the 24-hour hotlines of the District Anti-Triad Squad.

The audience actively expressed their views during discussions on crime prevention and measures to address drunkenness, noise nuisance and hygiene. The DFCC members praised police effort to tackle issues related to the bars in Wan Chai, while the audience found the information provided practical and useful.
