With the onset of the swimming season, Eastern District (EDIST) brought the message of preventing beach theft to the bathers at Shek O Beach on July 19 in partnership with many community organisations.

Officiating at the event were Chai Wan Divisional Commander Wong Kwok-yin, Ms Melissa Kaya Pang, Chairperson of Eastern District Fight Crime Committee, Mr Kung Pak-cheung, Vice-chairman of Eastern District Council, Ms Chan Lee Pui-ying, member of Southern District Council, Mr Wong Man-kwong, Chairman of Shek O Residents Association, Ms Poon Woon-chun, Chairman of Shek O Women's Association, and Mr Yuen Fu-poon, Chairman of Big Wave Bay Residents Association.

The publicity drive carried the slogan of "Keep an eye on your property!", which was printed on sun caps and publicity leaflets distributed to the public.
