Tackling late night violence is always a top operational priority for Wan Chai District (WCHDIST). As the result of the concerted effort by WCHDIST and stakeholders, there has been a significant drop in such crime in recent years.
Earlier, a joint meeting was held with non-Ethnic Chinese bar operators to enhance communication and exchange views. Among those present at the meeting were a member of the Legislative Council, Mr Chung Shu-kan, Chairman of the Liquor Licensing Board, Mr Yau How-boa, and Senior Superintendent Operations Cheng Yiu-mo from Hong Kong Island Region.

WCHDIST hosted a workshop for a total of 18 non-Ethnic Chinese licensees and managers in Wan Chai Police Station on August 27.  At the workshop, Wan Chai Police Community Relations Officer Maxim Kwok stressed that WCHDIST strived to maintain close liaison and communication with stakeholders. At the same time, other officers briefed the bar representatives on late night crimes associated with alcohol, the problems of noise pollution and hygiene, police enforcement actions and crime prevention measures.

At the conclusion of the workshop, both parties recognised the need to sustain communication and mutual trust and the bar representatives thanked WCHDIST for taking various initiatives to cater for their needs.
