In 2010 Crime Prevention Bureau (CPB) compiled a teaching kit for School Liaison Officers to lecture students on sex crimes and the ways to avoid falling preys to the crimes. To keep abreast of the times and furnish frontline officers with updated information, CPB has revised the teaching kit and held a "Guard Against Sexual Assault" Workshop on August 29 at Police Headquarters.

At the workshop facilitated by CPB Superintendent Frank Kwok, two clinical psychologists, Dr Tsui Pui-wang from Child Protection Policy Unit, and Mr Michael Fung from Psychological Services Group, analysed juvenile sex offences from a psychological perspective.

A social worker from Yang Memorial Methodist Social Service, Mr Tse Kee-leung, led a discussion on teenage "compensated dating". CPB Senior Inspector Peter Chan shared the skills young people need for their own protection, giving examples to illustrate several sexual assault cases and other related Internet crimes.

The workshop attracted 150 officers, including School Liaison Officers, JPC Liaison Officers, officers from Juvenile Protection Section and Regional Crime Prevention Offices, as well as officers keen to serve young people.

In the 2013-14 school year, the Force will continue to carry out publicity campaigns in primary and secondary schools to combat sexual assault. Besides publicity items, lectures and seminars will also be offered to the schools. Campaign posters have been uploaded to the Police website to cater for the need of youth organisations.
