Cycling has become more popular in recent years and Shatin is one of cyclists' favourite spots. To promote awareness of cycling safety, the Police Community Relations Office, District Traffic Team, Divisional Bicycle Patrol Teams and Uniform Branch officers of Shatin District (STDIST) held a Bicycle Safety Promotion Day on August 10 in conjunction with Shatin District Council, Shatin District Fight Crime Committee, Shatin JPC Honorary Presidents and JPC members.
On that day, officers and guests distributed leaflets on cycling safety and relevant legislation to cyclists in the vicinity of bicycle rental shops and at the rest spots along a bicycle track. As well as offering tips on safety, officers also reminded cyclists to follow traffic rules and adopt safety measures, for example wearing helmets.
