Tuen Mun District (TMDIST) provides in-house training from time to time for its officers to enhance cultural exchanges with the ethnic minorities in the district.  

To further improve the understanding between the Pakistani community and officers, TMDIST obtained the assistance of a Pakistani primary school teacher living in Tuen Mun, Mr Jamil Shah, in offering the officers a total of 10 lessons on Urdu  in June and August. Mr Shah also inspired the officers to learn more about the culture and the way of life of the Pakistani.

After completing the training course on August 21, the officers, who came from the crime stream and uniform branch, were awarded a certificate of attendance as a token of encouragement.  They had learned a new language and gained a better understanding of the culture of an ethnic minority.
