Fatal traffic accident in Tsing Yi
Police are investigating a traffic accident in which a 53-year-old man was killed and a 38-year-old woman injured in Tsing Yi tonight (May 7).
At about 9 pm, while reaching Lai King Estate, a light goods vehicle (LGV) travelling along the fourth lane of Kwai Chung Road towards Kowloon reportedly rammed onto a medium goods vehicle broken down in front on the same lane.
After the impact, a couple onboard the LGV, including the 53-year-old male driver and his 38-year-old wife were trapped inside the compartment. They were rescued by firemen attending the scene and were rushed to Princess Margaret Hospital where the man was certified dead at 9.53 pm.
Investigations by Special Investigation Team of Traffic New Territories South are proceeding.
