Man arrested for impersonating police officer
Police today (May 17) appealed to victims of theft cases to come forward following the arrest of a 51-year-old man for impersonating a police officer in Hung Hom yesterday (May 16).
On May 16, a patrolling officer stopped the 51-year-old man who was found acting suspiciously at the junction of Ma Tau Wai Road and Sheung Heung Road in Hung Hom.
The man, who claimed to be a police officer, produced a fake Police Warrant Card to the patrolling officer upon enquiries. The officer later conducted a search on the man, resulting in the seizure of a handcuff and an extendable baton in his possession.
Initial enquiries revealed that the man was suspected to be connected to a case by impersonating a police officer and stole $4,900 from a 29-year-old man in Sham Shui Po on May 9.
The man is being detained overnight for further investigation.
District investigation team of Kowloon City District has taken over the case for investigation. Police urge anyone who might have been victimised in similar cases to call the investigation officers at 2761 8261 or report to the Hung Hom Police Station at 2761 8200.
