Special traffic arrangements for public procession
Police will implement special traffic arrangements to facilitate a public procession to be held on Hong Kong Island this Sunday (May 28).
A. Road Closure
The following roads will be closed to all vehicular traffic from 3 pm and as necessary:
1. southbound Gloucester Road between Victoria Park flyover and Causeway Road;
2. northbound Gloucester Road from the U-turn loop underneath Tai Hang Flyover to south of Sugar Street;
3. Sugar Street;
4. westbound Yee Wo Street between Pennington Street and Hennessy Road;
5. Jardine's Bazaar;
6. westbound Hennessy Road between Yee Wo Street and Percival Street; and
7. Lee Garden Road between Kai Chiu Road and Hennessy Road.
B. Traffic Diversion
The following traffic diversion will be implemented from 3 pm and as necessary:
1. Traffic along southbound Victoria Park flyover must turn right to Gloucester Road service road;
2. Traffic along eastbound Great George Street must turn left to northbound Gloucester Road;
3. Traffic along eastbound Yee Wo Street will be prohibited to turn left to Sugar Street;
4. Traffic along westbound Irving Street must turn right onto northbound Pennington Street;
5. Traffic along northbound Pennington Street will be prohibited to turn left to Jardine's Bazaar;
6. Traffic along northbound Pennington Street must turn right to eastbound Yee Wo Street; and
7. Traffic along Kai Chiu Road will be prohibited to turn right to Lee Garden Road.
C. Suspension of Bus Stops
All bus stops along westbound Yee Wo Street, westbound Hennessy Road between Yee Wo Street and Tin Lok Lane will be suspended from 3 pm until the crowd is dispersed and traffic resumes normal.
D. Suspension of PLB stand
The PLB stand at Sugar Street and Jardine's Bazaar will be suspended from 3 pm until the crowd is dispersed and the traffic resumes normal.
E. Suspension of car park
Some of the meter parking spaces of Hing Fat Street Car Park will be suspended between 12 noon and 5 pm.
Public are advised to use public transports and avoid driving to the affected areas.
Motorists should exercise tolerance and patience and also take heed of instruction of Traffic Police.
